Primer: Data Management Practices on HPRC Resources

Prerequisite(s): Active HPRC Account, basic Linux/Unix skills

This primer covers a variety of topics relevant to data management on HPRC clusters, including transferring data to and from the clusters, data lifecycles, and data policies.

Note: if you are attending this class from off-campus, you will need to have the TAMU VPN set up to access the cluster. Refer to this Technology Services article for guidance on setting up the VPN.

Learning Objectives and Agenda

In this course, participants will learn to:

  • Transfer data to/from Grace
  • Use Globus for data management on Grace
  • Use the filesystem
  • Follow data policies
  • Use data transfer tools

Note: During the class sessions many aspects of the material will be illustrated live via a login to a training system. Attendees will complete these parts along with the instructor on their own devices.
