ACES: Python for Data Scientists

Prerequisite(s): Active ACCESS ID, some Python or programming experience

This short course for experienced programmers introduces the Numpy, Pandas, and Matplotlib libraries commonly used to manage and display large datasets in Python.

Learning Objectives and Agenda

In this course, participants will:

  • Access the Jupyter IDE on ACES
  • Learn how to handle 1D and 2D data via Numpy and Pandas
  • Learn to create figures and plots using Matplotlib

This course's topics are organized roughly as follows:

  • Acessing ACES and using Jupter Notebook
  • Numpy arrays
  • Pandas DataFrames
  • Matplotlib

Note: During the class sessions many aspects of the material will be illustrated live via a login to ACES. Attendees will log into ACES and complete the exercises. You are encouraged to contact the HPRC helpdesk with any questions regarding ACES.
