BRICCs Strategies for Regional Computing Workshop (2024)
Overview
The 2024 BRICCs workshop, Strategies for Regional Computing Workshop, is a two-day event that focuses on models to support regional computing at two-year colleges and under-resourced four-year institutions! The meeting will be held at Tempe, Arizona spanning from April 29, 2024 - May 1, 2024. This event will present invaluable information and opportunities for all attendees to learn, grow, and collaborate on building platforms for regional computing. Positions papers underscoring the challenges and opportunities in this space will be discussed during the meeting. We would like to invite you to attend and share your perspectives with us.
The meeting will be held at the Westin hotel in Tempe Arizona.
Position Papers:
Participants are invited to share position papers on how they see computing become more intrinsic in academic and research programs, the challenges they face at their institutions, the opportunities and their strategies. The two NSF programs guiding these discussions are CISE MSI and CC*. Some sample topics for discussion include:
- How to build academic programs that can use computing?
- How research and education networks are preparing for AI/ML?
- Experiences in building data science programs.
- Experiences in offering computing services.
- Experience in building student research or student internship programs.
- What are the security issues one has to consider?
This is not an exhaustive list and other topics are encouraged as well. Position papers can be from individuals or from groups. These reports will be discussed during the meeting. We request that these write-ups be between 250 words and no longer than a page in length. Submissions of all kinds are encouraged, but are due prior to the meeting. Please send us your papers no later than Monday April 22nd, so that we can work them into the program. To ensure sharing and comments, we request that you send these in an editable format (MS Word or Google doc).
