DETAILS:

Texas A&M High Performance Research Computing, in conjunction with our industry partners, is hosting a week-long series of events June 5-9, 2017 to introduce the A&M research community to computing and data resources and expertise available to support research, and, for advanced users, to provide additional training. There will also be talks by national experts on frontiers of computing for research.

The week will start with morning and afternoon workshops on a variety of topics on using local and national research computing resources, and will end with a Symposium on Thursday and Friday presenting talks and posters about best practices in computing and data intensive research, and national perspectives on building cyberinfrastructure capacity in the U.S. A Reception and Poster Session are planned for late Thursday afternoon.

Keynote speakers:

   Irene M. Qualters
Office Director, Division of Advanced Cyberinfrastructure (CISE/ACI), National Science Foundation

Dr. Qualters will offer a forward looking view of the NSF's leadership in advanced cyberinfrastructure for U.S. research

   Florence Hudson
Senior Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer, Internet2

Dr. Hudson will speak on diversity, inclusion and workforce development for science and engineering

In addition to keynotes and research talks by industry and TAMU experts, Research Computing Week will also offer the following:

  • A networking reception and poster session on Thursday afternoon/evening, June 8 in the ILSB atrium.
  • Tutorials
 - Introduction to Linux for researchers
 - Scientific computing with Python
 - Data literacy and data management for researchers
  • Special education and training events
 - Modeling and simulation for virtual prototyping and product optimization
 - Nvidia Deep Learning Institute
 - MATLAB for data analytics and machine learning
 - MATLAB code optimization
  • Open call for short research talks and posters
 - If you are interested in showing a poster about your research during the reception on Thursday evening, June 8, or presenting a talk on Thursday afternoon or Friday morning June 9, please provide the following information on the form when you register, or email it to help@hprc.tamu.edu:

-- Would you present a poster or a talk -- A title -- The author(s) name(s) and contact information -- a brief abstract.

Posters should be approximately 32"x48" or smaller, portrait or landscape orientation. Research talks may be limited in number and duration due to the schedule, but requests will be accommodated if at all possible.
